Geography at the centre of Africa's sustainable future

Africa is undergoing significant environmental, climatic, technological, demographic and socio-economic changes. These changes are reshaping interactions among people, places and environments across the continent. Geography examines these changes by focusing on spaces, places, environment, scale and human-environment relations.

Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, Earth Observation, Artificial Intelligence and other geospatial technologies are opening new opportunities for research, planning and sustainable development.

The University of Embu invites scholars, researchers, postgraduate students, practitioners, policymakers and professionals from Africa and beyond to participate in the African Geographies for a Sustainable Future conference.

The conference offers an interdisciplinary platform to present research, share methodological innovations, strengthen scholarly networks and foster dialogue among research, policy and practice. Comparative and trans-regional contributions linking African experiences with other regions are encouraged.
